Welcome to Lawson Pickleball, where the love of the game meets expert training. I am James Lawson, also known around the courts as “J*Smooth,” a title that reflects my playing style and coaching philosophy. Since picking up my first pickleball paddle in 2018, I’ve dedicated myself to mastering and teaching this exhilarating sport.
My Journey
My adventure in pickleball began as a personal challenge and quickly evolved into a competitive pursuit. With a DUPR rating of 5.23, I have competed and medaled in major tournaments across the country, including:
- The US Open in Naples, Florida
- The PPA Baird Wealth Tournament in Cincinnati, Ohio
Participating in Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles events has not only honed my skills but also enriched my love for the sport. While my days of constant travel and weekend tournaments are behind me, I now find great joy in coaching and playing with fellow coaches and pros, including regular games with other high-level players.
